List of rune word equipment diablo 21/11/2024 ![]() ![]() When a Rune Word is made, the item's name is changed to the Rune Word's name. Rune Words do not make a comeback in Diablo III. They were introduced in the Diablo II expansion, Lord of Destruction. So maybe changing it to 240 - 280 min damage and 340 - 400 max damage would bring it in line a bit more, but I don’t advocate for any Grief nerfs unless there’s already compensatory buffs in place.Rune Words are specific combinations of runes that grant specific socketed items several new magical properties. All the %ED RW still have the respective gap between min and max from the base item, leaving average damage “pulled down” a lot more than Grief. The other thing about grief is that flat damage add isn’t a range, so you’re adding 340 to 400 to min as well as max, which dwarfs the base weapon damage so you have a super high average damage. to out perform Grief, that you may push everything too crazy high, so you may end up needing to take some of Grief away. ![]() I suspect dropping from 340 - 400 all the way to 100 is way too big of a drop, but I could see if you scale base weapon damage high enough for BotD, LW, etc. Ideally all in a PTR if we could have long enough to actually get an accurate gauge of where things are. Rescale base weapon damage until Grief and the more expensive melee RW scale more reasonably, then see where melee are performing, and then re-balance as needed if they are over performing. Grief being flat damage won’t get much benefit from base item damage buff, but RW with high %ED will. casters, leave Grief alone and STILL buff bases. TBH my preference with where melee damage is vs. Given that, there’s not that many RW which would have to be touched, so yeah, adding a little bit of flat damage to things like BotD and LW so they out perform Grief with the combined flat damage and current %ED probably would actually be the easiest route. It’s over all power level is really not an issue in this game, since it still pales in comparison to caster damage, which becomes very obvious in higher player count games. IMO the only real “problem” with Grief is that for a Lo rune it outperforms more expensive RW like BotD and LW. But what else would you want to do? Add 400 flat damage to every runeword? Thats way more work than nerfing grief from 400 to 100 and buff bases so every other weapon will be a choice.īuffing all the bases is certainly a ton of work also. ![]()
